Yes, 2ndLine provides fully functional, dedicated digital numbers that can make and receive calls and texts just like a standard mobile line.
Is 2nd Line free?
2nd Line starts with a free trial, so you can get your number and try calling and texting first. After the trial you choose a subscription plan in the app. There is no contract and no long-term commitment.
Can I use my 2nd Line number for WhatsApp?
Yes. You can use your 2nd Line number to register WhatsApp and other apps that verify your phone number by SMS or call. A few services restrict virtual numbers, so verification can’t be guaranteed for every app.
Can I use 2nd Line on my computer?
Web Messaging is coming soon. You’ll be able to log in with Apple, Google or Email and call and text from your browser with the same 2nd Line number you use in the app.
Can I use my 2ndLine number for Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)?
Yes, our numbers are generally compatible with most services that require a phone number for registration or 2FA, adding an extra layer of security.
Does 2ndLine require a contract or commitment?
No. 2ndLine operates on a flexible, no-contract basis. You can choose a subscription that works for you without any long-term commitment or hidden fees.
Can I choose my own area code?
Absolutely. You can select your preferred area code from our list of supported countries (including the USA, Canada, UK, and more) to establish a local presence anywhere.
How does 2ndLine protect my privacy?
By providing a separate, disposable number, 2ndLine ensures your primary personal phone number remains private and is never exposed to clients, online marketplaces, or public listings.
Do I need to buy a separate SIM card or phone?
No. 2ndLine is a simple app that uses your existing internet connection (Wi-Fi or mobile data) to operate. No extra hardware or SIM card purchase is required.
Is the 2ndLine app safe?
Yes. 2ndLine prioritize security, using encryption and keeping your primary device location and number confidential.
How many phone numbers can I have?
Up to three on one account: a primary, second and third number. Each one keeps its own voicemail greeting, blocked list, ringtone and subscription, and you switch between them in the app.
Can I lock the app so nobody else can read my messages?
Yes. You can lock 2nd Line with a PIN, Face ID or Touch ID, so the app stays closed even when your phone is unlocked and in someone else’s hands.
Can I get my old number back if I stop using it?
You can hold or reserve a number you are not using, restore a number together with its data, and recover an inactive number. Cancelling comes with a grace period rather than removing the number immediately.
Does 2nd Line work on Apple Watch?
Yes. There is an Apple Watch app, plus a home-screen widget on your phone, so your second number is reachable without opening the app every time.
